Colts game history, Redskins come to town...

DeMeco tied for third in NFL for most tackles. Last Sunday we faced one of the best offenses in the history of the NFL. Peyton Manning is a future hall of famer and once again showed why he is the best quarterback in the league. Yet, when all was said and done and we had lost 43-24 to the Colts, I think the key to the loss was us beating our selves. When you play a team like the Colts you have to alleviate all mistakes, play fundamentally sound and stay in position. Some teams may not recognize your mistakes but Peyton and the Colts capitalize on each and every mistake. They don’t run hurry up offense but the no huddle puts more pressure on the defense to line up quickly because you never know when they will snap the ball.

Defensively I think we got a little better against the Colts. We did give up 43 points and made a lot of mistakes but I do think our attitude improved. Although we were down by several points, I didn’t see anyone giving up, all of us fought to the end. Attitude is a very important aspect of the game and hopefully a step on the ladder of success we’ve already taken.

We now stand at 0-2 for the season and host the Redskins, who are also 0-2 on Sunday. I may be too optimistic but playing the Eagles and Colts in the first two weeks of the season will help us as we go through the season. I’m not sure we’ll see two more potent offenses than we’ve seen during the first two weeks. I continue to remind myself, the NFL game is unlike college. You lose your first two games in college and you’re pretty much out of the national and conference championship picture, in the NFL you still have 14 games remaining.

We’ll have a pretty normal game week and will put the Redskins’ game plan in on Wednesday. Thursday, Friday and Saturday we will continue to work on the plan.

Hopefully I’ll get the time to check Bama out on Saturday. Those 2:30 CBS games were my favorite because I knew it was a big game. I know those guys on this year’s team feel the same. Arkansas always plays us tough, but I think the Tide will be ok.

Some of you have been asking if I keep up with my individual stats and realize where my stats rank in the league. Honestly, I hear guys around the team talking about it but I don’t get caught up in personal numbers. All I care about is winning. All I care about is getting rid of that sick feeling when we lose. No personal feats rid me of that sickness.

For my Bama folks, keep checking the blog. I may be making an appearance in the near future.

Maybe next week when I check in the Texans will be 1-2 and the Tide will have recorded two conference wins.
