TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Add another page to DeMeco's accomplishments at the University of Alabama. Coming into Wednesday's Pro Day at the Capstone, DeMeco's best 40 time was a 4.62 he ran at last month's NFL Combine. Continuing to work under the watchful eyes of professional trainers in Arizona, DeMeco strived to improve and improve he did. DeMeco improved his time by logging a 4.59-40.
"I think some people thought I was out in Arizona taking it easy. Those six hour a day, six days a week workout routines are paying off." DeMeco explains.
In addition to improving his speed, DeMeco has worked out at the dinner table in the hopes of adding a few pounds. The extra meals paid off with him weighing in at 240 pounds. More impressive when you factor in his improved speed. "I've been listening to some of the questions the NFL has about me. I've worked on those areas of my game and I've showed them I'm ready to take the step up to the next level." Considered a consensus first round draft choice, DeMeco chose only to run the 40 and participate in position drills at Wednesday's workout. "I felt like I was where I needed to be on times and strenghth at the combine. I came in here wanting to improve my 40 and that's what I did." One of the top three linebackers in this year's draft, DeMeco has pulled off what some thought was unobtainable. With a 4.59-40 yard sprint he surpassed one of three in each category tested and is the only one of the three who has shown improvement at each stage of testing. DeMeco will continue preperations for April's draft and is scheduled to have a private workout with the New England Patriots on Monday. |
