MOBILE, Ala. - Demeco and his South squad teammates practiced this morning under sunny skies and against a stiff north breeze. The one hour and forty five minute practice included pass skeleton drills, position specific drills as well as working the first team defense against the first team offense. Working out at his usual outside linebacker spot, Demeco answered any questions concerning his ability to cover backs in pass routes as he had two pass break ups against Memphis running back Deangelo Williams. Demeco was also isolated several times on UCLA receiver Marcedes Lewis. Giving up four inches to the Bruin proved no big deal for Demeco as he provided excellent man-to-man coverage, holding Lewis to only one reception of 4 yards.
No stranger to special teams, Demeco has gotten his fair share on punt coverage and field goal units. Meetings...When not in team meetings or on the practice field ,players often find themselves being escorted into a side room where an assembled staff of scouts are awaiting their chance at throwing you 100 questions. Through Wednesday, Demeco has interviewed with 6 NFL teams, a number that will certainly increase as the week goes on. Next Practice: Thursday, 1:45 - 3:15 p.m., Ladd-Peebles Stadium TV...ESPN continues coverage of Senior Bowl practice continues on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. Central. Look for #35! Today's TidBit...Oops! When you've made a name for yourself as a big hitter the urge to punish the opponent is etched in your brain, so when your coach says "no tackling" it becomes very hard to deprogram the gray matter. Demeco proved this morning that it takes a little more than words from your coach to counter the punishment urge as he put Memphis running back Deangelo Williams on his posterior during scrimmage situations. So much for "no tackling." Check back for more updates through Senior Bowl week as well as Demeco post game comments after Saturday's contest. Photos from practice should be uploaded on Thursday. |
