Award reflects team and fan support  To say I was extremely humbled to have been named AP Defensive Rookie of the Year would be an understatement. It’s truly a blessing to play in Houston and be surrounded by so many great people. From the ten guys who line up next to me each Sunday to the coaching staff, each member of the Houston Texans organization has made me better and helped me achieve DROY honors. Being named Defensive Rookie of the Year sounds like an individual award but cannot be achieved by the individual. Many people have impacted my life and have contributed to me being given the award. Whether it’s on this website, at a game or when I’m out in public, I am continually honored by the so many fans who offer me encouragement. I could never repay you the continuous impact you have on my life but hopefully my play on the field will suffice. Know that my fans and my teammates had as much to do with me receiving the award as I did.
